A reflection about the ocean

The project „a reflection about the ocean“ deals with the Atlantic Ocean on the basis of 4 subprojects. Different techniques represent forms, associations, movements and mental incentives shaped by the ocean. The ocean as a tank for dynamics and inspiration. It‘ s about exploring the diversity and understanding which personal meaning water has as natural element for me as a human being. Water that fascinates, creates dependencies, forms & interactions that influence and shape life.

Floating

No. 1, Photoserie, Portugal, 2019

The focus of this photographic sequence is directed at the human being and the water in the form of waves. The series is split into two parts: a black/white part (on land) and a coloured part (in the water). It is an attempt to photographically capture the driving force and freedom caused by the inconceivable power, dynamism and limitless freedom of movement of water. An awareness of the infinite expanse of the ocean and its potential to strengthen one‘s own wellbeing.

Aquatics

No. 2, glass sculptures, Lisbon, 2019

By means of various tests, an attempt was made to develop an understanding of the properties of melting glass in order to finally create a dialogue between water and glass in an sculpture. The melting and flowing of glass at high temperatures and the strength of the material at low temperatures provide the optimal basis for freezing uncontrollable ocean movements and displaying them as a static image. A sculptural representation of the path of waves across the ocean and the cumulative forces involved. From deep to shallow.

Additiion sculpture

A sculptural representation of the way the waves travel across the ocean and the during this process accumulated forces.

Rain sculpture

Falling water, as filling resource of the sea and vertical movement contrast to the horizontally running waves.

View pot

No. 3, ceramic sculpture, Lisbon, 2019

Linked to the public space around the „Club Naval“ in Belem, this project creates an analogy to Lisbon‘s seaside but still urban landscape. A seating sculpture for promenaders as an invitation to rest, take a deep breath and enjoy. Sitting in the shadow of a tree, looking into the distance, surrounded by a piece of nature in urban space.

Childish leftovers

Nr. 4, paintings, Portugal,  2019

9 painted objects for children, found & bought on the beach. The objects speak of secrets of the ocean, the feeling of childhood and the fascination & variations of water. They refer to the irrational and funny things that happen to us while bathing in the water.

Exhibition

Arrozestudios, Cacillhas, 2019

A final exhibition of the project at the Arrozestudios in Cacillhas next to the Tejo River. A place right on the water to spend an evening with a variety of people and a view of the ocean. The ocean as a theme and platform for exchanges.
